I love reading your slice of midlife Alison. I just bought the most lovely set of three vases from your friend Amy. And thanks for the shout out for narrative medicine:)
I do actively find that doing things for others makes me feel better. But it was a hard lesson to realize that if I just couldn't because of depression or other commitments or whatever, it didn't make me a bad person. That it's okay to just care for oneself and let someone else do the counting and cooking. 💖
Great sentiments-great pictures-some pretty fun secret clubs (subset drinks! Goats! Herons!) over there 😊 But mostly, I cannot believe it has been a whole years, or nearly! You are serving in your sharing here too!
that Carrot Cake was so delicious! and I had no idea just how many incredible things you have done in our Ballard community. I mean, I remember the elementary school years and those fun projects but not your recent forays. Thank you for being such a pillar of our community!
Are you in Seattle? It's the little beach near Ray's Boathouse, just off the Elks parking lot. It's not so secret lol but you need to be an Elk to park in the lot.

Still 8 months of treatment to go, but the hard stuff is almost over.

So much light and wisdom here, Alison. Thank you for sharing this, and for everything else you do!
My grandmother used to say that if you feel down, you should go help others. I didn’t fully understand this when I was a kid, but I do now.
Yup. That and taking a walk always make one feel better.
Oh, I think I’ve been running past there! I live in Everett ❤️
I want to find that Secret Beach!!

while you visit Secret Beach, have some Secret Congee. I am pretty sure Alison was the one who turned me on to that place.
Shhhhhh. It’s secret. 😂 The most poorly kept secret in Ballard.
lol
